I joined Dallas Everest lions club on 2007. In 2009-10 I became the treasurer of the club. During that time I managed to collect all the over dues and efficiently managed the club finances. In 2013-14 I became the president of lions club, Dallas. One of the most notable achievement during my tenure was organizing MAHA Jatra here in Dallas which was able to raise $60,000, out of which $30,000 was expenses and remaining half was kept as net profit. My main vision for Dallas Everest lions club was to establish a free health clinic open for public which is getting getting accomplished now. I am extremely happy for that and grateful to Dr. Maya for her insurmountable effort on this project’s success.

Hello!! This is Lion Suresh Basyal, I joined Dallas Everest Lions Club (DELC) in 2014 as a member and after a while got involved in different service projects like Kidney Awareness Walks and club service activities. I got opportunities to serve as a secretary in the club and really got the opportunity to learn more about Lionism. I kept serving in different capacities like Leo Advisor, 2nd Vice President and First Vice President and gradually moved to President in LY 2019-20. I also served in District 2-X1 as a Leo Chairperson for two terms and Zone Chair twice which I am serving now.Growing up I probably found Lions Clubs are for the “Eye Camps” and eye hospitals in Nepal. Now, I like to be in the Lions Club not just providing service to others but to engage myself and family members in the same. My wife Anju is also a Lions member, and our daughters Ashul & Anushka are active Leo members. We also got opportunities to grow personally and professionally when serving. I got exposure to public speaking and leading different committees in the club and in District 2-X1 of Lions Clubs International and other organizations.
Dallas Everest Leo Club started in 2016, since then I was interested to work with our young leaders. Around 2019, the Youth Leadership Program (YLP) by Toastmasters International was introduced to our Leo Club. I got the opportunity to help our Leos as well as other youths in the community by providing them a platform for public speaking and leadership. Our Leos are ready to lead in the community and I am so happy for the opportunity I got to make friends with other members from the club and outside.
Currently I am helping clubs in District 2-X1, Zone 04 and other clubs established by people of Nepalese origin to provide them orientations and needed help to design service projects and work with other clubs. Being a Lion is not a destination, I think it’s a journey of service and fellowship. I will be happy to share my experience with any member or nonmembers as well as clubs from anywhere on Lionism.
